Ke$ha is being sued by her former managers at DAS Communications for upwards of $14 million, Ken Freundlich.
DAS Communications sued the singer in New York in May for $14 million the company claimed it was owed from her successful 2010 album. Kesha responded with a countersuit in California, saying she didn't owe anyone anything, because she'd fired DAS in 2008.
DAS claim Kesha had initially agreed to give them 20 per cent of her future income, with the option to sever the business if she did not land a major label record contract within a year.
Although she failed to pick up a deal within those 12 months, DAS insist they continued a good relationship with Kesha until she met Dr. Luke, who allegedly "induced, intimidated and convinced Kesha" to cut ties with them.
“Although she has made an incredible amount of money in a very short period of time, in large part due to DAS’ efforts on her behalf,” the papers continue, “she could just as easily lose money if not properly guided”—a statement claiming, in essence, that Ke$ha’s future career prospects are limited, and her financial acumen, even more so.
The performer, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert, has since filed a countersuit in California alleging the firm's claims are bogus because she had every right in their deal to sever their business ties and that DAS is simply trying to cash in on income she earned elsewhere.
