Having already had top 20 singles in the UK and UK with her sister Amanda as AJ and Aly, and opened for Hannah Montana / Miles Cyrus, rising star Aly Michalka has got the right qualifications to play Charlotte, a high-school senior in Todd Graff’s Bandslam. Michalka lists her own favourites as Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, Radiohead and Coldplay as well as The Police, Van Halen, Heart and other retro-influences. The 21-year-old actress, who was born in Torrance, California, started as a musician as a teenager, playing in a Christian band. Aly's first acting break came when she was cast in the Disney Channel show, Phil of the Future.


Aly continues to play music and is now part of a band with her sister called 78violet.
